Hei Ming 黑明 was born in Shaanxi Province in 1964 and graduated from Photography Art Department in Tianjin Art Craft College in 1990. He has published over 20 photography books and albums and has won numerous awards and titles. He has won the China Photography Art Golden Image Award twice, and has received many awards and honorary titles, including the People's Photographer, the China Contemporary Photographer Award, the Top Ten Photographers in China, the Top Ten Chinese Portrait Photographers, the Photographer with Outstanding Contributions to Chinese Photography in the Past 50 Years, the China Book Award, and the Hundred Thousand Talents Project.

Hei Ming is director of the Shanghai Photographers Association and works at the China National Academy of Arts.
