Artist: Burton Silverman (b. 1928)
Burton Silverman, an American artist, was born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1928. He received a BA from Columbia College and studied at the Art Students League and the Pratt Institute. With over 60 years as a fine artist, Silverman has exhibited in 36 solo shows across the country, including New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., San Francisco, Maine, and Nashville. His work is characterized by classical realism, and he is considered one of America's most accomplished and important realist painters and illustrators. Silverman's art can be found in prestigious collections such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Smithsonian American Art Museum, and the Brooklyn Museum. Notably, he documented the Montgomery bus boycott alongside fellow artist Harvey Dinnerstein, capturing a pivotal moment in American history.
