Artist: Berenice Abbott (American, 1898-1991)
Berenice Abbott was an American photographer known for her black-and-white photography of New York City architecture and urban design of the 1930s. She worked as a darkroom assistant to Man Ray in Paris from 1923 to 1935 and as well as her outstanding photographic documentation of a rapidly changing New York City she was instrumental in the recognition of and preservation of the works of French street photography pioneer Eugène Atget.
