Here's an example of how color and texture inspiration work with me. Oftentimes, I paint from nature but sometimes a color or texture combo will strike me--and I'll play with that idea in the studio. Take for example this this cracked cement wall (2nd image) I photographed while on a walk. Here, you can see the elements of the photograph reflected in the painting by using mixed media. This time, I used metalic foil and acrylic paint to enhance the elements of metal and air. The grey-yellow-green wall with the silver-blue sky and fence are all in there.
