Wishing for Rain (but not too much)
Charcoal, pastel, gold and blue powder, cold wax, oil pastel, oil on wood canvas
Los Angeles is a place of extremes—wildfires and mudslides, beauty and destruction, hope and resilience. I painted this piece while parts of my city were still on fire, longing for the healing touch of rain. But not too much all at once, as that could bring its own chaos. This work captures the delicate balance we wish for—protection, renewal, and harmony amidst turmoil. The figure holds an umbrella, a symbol of both shelter and vulnerability, as the storm brews around them. The drips and textures echo the unpredictability of nature and the emotional waves we ride with it.
Let it rain, gently.
