Born and raised in Billings, MT, Anne attended Montana State University in Bozeman and studied Art and Psychology, graduating with her B.F.A. in 2008. Anne has been painting with meticulous care for over 20 years and with every increase in skills there has also come a desire to break outside the realm of classic art making techniques to explore new looks and textures. Anne currently paints in her mobile studio that takes her all over the pacific northwest, and back to home bases in Bozeman and Billings, MT.
My marbled works begin with a tray of thickened water, and some very thin paints which I float on the surface of the liquid. The paint colors will never mix on the surface of the liquid, no matter how many times I swirl them around with needle tools and rakes. Instead I achieve a folding, vibrant action packed design that I look at like the clouds floating by in the sky to tell me what to paint or draw on my new whirled canvas. It is so incredibly fun, and sometimes I get some wild ideas. Ideas, which are like the little light-bulb moments in life, like seeds I can plant and see if they grow.
