This piece was inspired by Karen's wedding bouquet. What felt like the beginning of spring, on a warm day, I wheeled my easel out on the deck of my studio and began with broad strokes of deep greys, greens and blues to block out the background. I cranked the music and studied the arches, shadows, sizes and shapes of various white flowers. I made a bouquet of flowers from my garden. Evelyn came in to the studio after school one day while I was working on this piece and she said I needed a touch of lavender in the centers of the hydrangeas. She was right! She helped add the center colors and it helped me loosen up and add more color to these 'white' flowers. I enjoyed creating this piece so much and seeing it in the room made it even better!
