Norway Research & The Night Sisters Series ( Summer 2024)

I will be traveling to Norway to explore the aesthetics of the region where my family is from this July (2024)! Over the past year I've connected with museums and institutions linked to The VITI Foundation in Alesunde, Norway and will be able to see primary source material in-person for the first time. In order to raise funds for my trip and project expenses, I have created a series of four paintings, 'The Night Sisters'. All of these works are made with hand-made paint and Norwegian rosamaling pigments*. This opportunity is significant to me as I have been searching for examples of rosemaling and embroidery from the Skodje/Engesetdal area for some time. I will be studying and drawing folk costumes with free-hand embroidery and rose-painted objects and also hope to make connections for future projects through the American embassy while I'm there. If you are interested in purchasing a print or one or more of the original paintings (pairs available), please feel free to contact me by email ([email protected]), through social media (Instagram: @annalisa_barron_studio, Facebook: www.facebook.com/annalisa.barron), or through the 'Inquiry' button on this platform. *More info on Rosemaling Pigments: http://annalisabarron.com/paintingdrawing/ --- Pricing: Original Night Series Painting - $400 12 x 12" Archival Print - $75 The Night Sisters ( group of four original pieces) - $1500 --- Electronic Payment Platforms: Venmo: annalisa_barron_studio PayPal: annalisabarronart @ gmail.com *Please include your name, address, and contact info in the message box or email it to [email protected]*

Skew Series

The Skew Series riffs off the behavior of bending rings of light in Newton’s Rings. Each piece is a caricature, of a scene or interaction, being squeezed through a lens and split into continuous contorting colors. They are a meditation on distortions in perception caused by desire, ambition and unconscious schemas. The paint is hand-made with tempera, casein and pigments – on a ground of milk, sand and spit.
