One in a series of sculpted CoLorField paintings begun in 2016. This series is mostly monochromatic paintings which seems antithetical to the definition that the Colorfield. “Marigold” is an exploration of simplifying. I reduced the complexity of many colors on one canvas. I adore this overlooked hue. Since the recent death of Thích Nhất Hạnh, I dedicate this piece in his memory. Underneath the layers of folds is a previous painting that I was unhappy with.
