Started as a figure illustration. Colors added. Finished prior to the War in Ukraine starting, but retitled when I recognized the (approx.) colors of the Ukrainian flag. My husband's grandfather immigrated to US from Lviv, Ukraine in about 1915. In 2025, we (Fulton Crossing artists) donated a piece of aRt to an exhibit to raise funds for United24, a charity sponsored by the Ukrainian Embassy in San Francisco. The charity helped to rebuilt a school. We hosted a raffle, invited the public and raised over $1400. One of Fulton Crossing artists is Ukrainian and so this was very personal for her.
