This piece was originally Silver and Gold (I have several pieces of pink - a color I enjoy). The paint needed to be touched up so I went a bit wild with additional color hues. It looked bubbly so I renamed it "Enjoy Your Bath." Silver and Gold is a separate different piece now.
"Being creative is not so much the desire to do something as the listening to that which wants to be done: the dictation of the materials" - Anni Albers
It captures the essence of creativity as a process of listening and responding to the inherent qualities of materials and ideas.
Creativity often involves a dialogue between the creator and their medium, allowing inspiration to flow naturally.
the importance of openness and receptivity in artistic expression, suggesting that true creativity emerges when we attune ourselves to what the materials or concepts are asking for.
The process for creating these sculpted pieces: A piece of fabric (polyester works well) is drenched in laytex paint which acts as a barrier and adheres the fabric to a canvas. The larger the piece of fabric, the more dynamic the shape becomes. The wet fabric is manipulated around to create peaks and valleys until an interesting shape and texture emerges. Once it is dry, I paint it with oils to create variations in one or more colors.
