made this as a student under Anne Iott at Tidewater Community College, Virginia Beach, VA in 1978. It remains one of my most cherished paintings, even though i had barely begun my academic training as an artist. It is my impression of a painting of the same title by Chaim Soutine. It has been in my home over the years, as we moved from place to place during my 24 years in the service . It is just a classic abstract expressionist piece that is one of the most influential pieces of aRt to me. The windy trees, the movement in the sky and clouds, the movement of the path the two children are taking to get home. The loose style of applying paint came naturally to me and i have never abandoned it.
