painting in film

This collection began in Spring 2020 as I turned to music and film as a way to deal with the COVID shutdown. During the stressful times in my life I have always used films and music as a way to escape and process my experience. I associate particular movies and songs with the different chapters of my life and I wanted to catalogue them through my art.

tonal form

This body of work explores the space where sound, feeling, and movement meet. Influenced by music, each piece is titled after a specific song. The process of each one was guided by internal response to tone rather than a plan. I work with raw canvas, stretched canvas, panel and paper, letting the material itself influence the outcome.

Using techniques like pouring, scraping, scratching, layering, and removing, I build and unbuild the surface. The process is physical, instinctive, and deeply tied to mood. My palette often uses bright neon colors that move through each piece, sometimes floating, colliding, or pulled back to reveal what’s underneath.

The use of raw canvas brings a grounded, textured base, while stretched canvas and paper allow for sharper gestures and more controlled chaos. Together, they form a visual language of emotional residue.

These works are about what’s felt but not always visible. I translate memory, mood, and the subconscious into a form that is unfiltered, in motion, and always reaching for something just beyond the surface.
