I have lived and worked in Southern California for over forty years. Most of my artwork is acrylic paint on canvas or linen using a process that derives the subject from a semi-abstract composition. I also love to work in pen on paper or pen and watercolor on paper using a more observational approach. Whatever method I use, I enjoy painting because it helps me to see the world in ways that I otherwise never would have. Lately, I find inspiration in the patterns, textures, and movements of animals. As a complement to the animal paintings, I am working on a series of small landscapes based on locations in and near San Diego, especially the salt marshes and bay areas. These are called Remember Where You Are, because I regard landscapes as a method of orienting myself in a manner that is infused with both documentation and imagination.
