This colorful quirky sculpture is inspired by creatures of the deep and extraterrestrials! Four separate vessels were created around flat resists. Whilst flat, they were embellished with felt cord, balls or pre-felt to add dimension and interest. Individual pieces were then rolled until they were loosely felted. Matching openings were cut into each “vessel” and the resist removed. Vessels were then stitched together and further felted to form a strong bond. When all four components were joined the “tentacles” were added. The combined piece was rolled, and beaten into submission until it had shrunk in size by approx. 50%. Wood tools were used for the final shaping. The piece is variable in size, can be wall hung or suspended in any number of configurations.
