A self taught artist who passion for painting has come with the benefit of experience in life.
I studied at the Art Academy in London under the tutelage of Nikki Taylor and James Hart Dyke, who ignited my passion for landscape painting. Taking up acrylic pouring when the needs of a young family were such that there was little time left over for artistic expression. I am a pupil of YouTube for my acrylic pouring paintings. My aim is to turn them in to Fine Art collections.
I have exhibited at Boudoir Femme Boutique, King Street, Cambridge and hosted my own Pop Up Exhibitions and Open Studios in Cambridgeshire after Covid hit and cancelled my Art Fair bookings.
The world is my oyster!
Statement
My fascination with all things creative has lead me on this artistic path. My current passion is acrylic pouring - the way colours interact yet don’t, fascinates me. You have to let go of constraints, preconceptions and have an open mind as to how the finished piece will look. It plays in parallel to my looser style of painting when I paint with oils and a brush. The wonderful thing about this style is that no two pieces will be the same yet a collection of colour inspired pictures can be hung together. The sizes are consistent (50cmx50cm or 23cmx23cm) and I pour a series of the same colour at the same time, which make them eminently collectable.
As a shipping lawyer and passionate diver, I draw my inspiration for my blue paintings from the sea, satellite images of the coast and from amazing coffee table books of the sea with stunning photos. It has such magnetic and calming powers, even when it is in turmoil.
My clients and followers have been so supportive. Here are some comments from my most recent Pop Up Open Studios:
- "Very impressive. Lovely colours. Very inspirational"
- "What an inspirational collection. I love the feeling of life-force that you have captured in so many paintings"
- "Simply stunning art"
- "All the artworks are fantastic. Very unique and they stay in your mind for a long long time"
Art is a very personal experience. Most people want a piece of art that moves them emotionally or stimulates a particular feeling in some way. A beautiful piece of art, in my meagre opinion, should be one that you fall in love with and want to look at again and again. To do this, it cannot give up all its secrets in one go, but you must be drawn in again and again to search for something else in the painting that you hadn't seen before.
