This painting first appeared to me in 2004. I think originally it was a diptych, but I combined it into one image. The image depicts, from the far left, an open door revealing a pyramid under a Milky Way night sky. The subtle light spills into the ancient building, illuminating running white horses, frozen in time—turned to stone—slowly being buried by sand. As the view pans right, there are columns, one of which has a dark figure stepping out from behind. Further right is a sand-covered hall leading to another doorway outside. In the arched doorway, a lion stands watch with an eclipse in progress behind him.
I have wondered for years what this painting represents. I would be curious to know others’ interpretations of this painting, which is obviously filled with symbolism.
