Without A Map
Without A Map
This journey of making art is a journey without a map.
There are many detours, many pauses. Some short, some far too long.
Some of the journey is along a lovely coastal path, inspiration all around. Sometimes it’s a
matter of listening to the moon and stars, or being open to guides and omens. Sometimes it’s
just dark and you can do nothing but allow yourself to stop and gather wood for the fire, so
your creativity and energy can burn again - when they’re ready.
I’ve found that the harder I try to cling to a map, the more lost I can feel, and the harder it is to
actually move forward. To paint. To create. To live. I often end up throwing the map away, and
that’s when the real journey begins.
In the end, I’m just finding my way as I go. Without a map.
Aren’t we all?
