This piece is inspired by the road trips my dad and I took along US Highway 57, the only route to and from our border town of Eagle Pass. We watched many a sun set and moon rise in the open sky as we drove past stretches of ranch land and mesquite trees. When we got to Batesville, we knew we were almost home.
