Amy Lambrecht
Alabama
Amy Lambrecht currently lives and works in Huntsville, AL where she follows in the fine tradition of light capturing oil painting from life.
MessageA love of drawing came early in her life and she began her formal training at the young age of 12, riding the subway to attend a figure class at the Art Student’s League in NY.
Providentially, a family move to the suburbs of NJ placed her in the studio of internationally known artist John P. Osborne.
There at the “Studio” a converted railcar in Midland Park, NJ she apprenticed to learn the art of oil painting and spent many hours under the eye of “Mr. Osborne” as she still refers to her mentor. Countless plein air painting trips and assisting in studio classes through her secondary years at the Ridgewood Art Institute, instilled in Amy the fine traditions she now endeavors to preserve. Her artistic lineage can be traced through a distinguished line of artists from John P. Osborne, to Albert Alban, to Arthur Maynard who studied under Frank Vincent DuMond, a much beloved instructor of the American Impressionist movement that taught for many years at the Art’s Student League in NYC.
As a young artist, Ms. Lambrecht has received The Salmagundi Club Award, the Rose Lerher Memorial Landscape Award of the Hudson Valley Art Association, the Grumbacher Gold Medallion Award and the Stacy Fellowship. Her work has hung in juried exhibits in California, New Jersey, Chicago with the Oil Painters of America (of which she is a member) and New York City and has had numerous one-man shows represented by galleries across the country.
She has also had the honor of being a cover artist for “American Artist Magazine” as a young artist. With the Land Trust in Ithaca, NY she got to work with the son of Aldo Leopold the conservationist to bring awareness through a benefit art show. 20 years later, Ms. Lambrecht partnered with the Land Trust in North Alabama to preserve more pristine land with her art for preservation efforts.
Most recently, she has re-established membership into the Oil Painters of America and has begun again winning awards in a number of online art competitions such as with 2020 Fall Dutch Art Gallery Juried Show, The 5th Annual Fusion Art Group Show, The 2020 Light Space Time Landscape Art Exhibition and the 3rd Annual Women Artist Competition.
Statement
Amy Lambrecht considers herself a painter of light which reveals the world around her, whether it be a landscape, still-life or figure. Academically trained as a chemist, she is very cognizant of the mechanics of light and understands how the atmosphere, time of day, and surface among other factors shape the scene she is capturing in her oils.
Ultimately, the light filtered through the artist’s mind is painted through her unique interpretation and expression. As her skills are being renewed after her 20+ years away from the easel, her painting is developing a deeper, more mature expression.
