Artist: Verona Arnold Kiralfy (American, 1888-1946)
The following is from Jerome Kiralfy, nephew of the artist who referred to her as his favorite aunt:
Verona Kiralfy died in 1946, regarded as one of Pittsburgh's finest portrait artists. Among her clients were prominent people of business and industry including Andrew Carnegie, J Joseph Horn, Richard B. Mellon, Alfred E Hunt, Charles Lockhart, Averill Harriman, and William B Rodgers.
From the fine arts galleries of Carnegie Institute, Kiralfy also copied the painting of Christ and the Disciples by Pascal Adophe Dagnan Bouveret and purchased by Thomas Mellon the II and given to St. Barnabas Free home at Gibsonia.
Verona was the first and as far as I know the only one that ever copied the portrait of the Cavalier by Rembrandt.
