Relational Public Art Meetings
Participatory public art events that are designed to engage audiences at alternative spaces.
These are multi-dimensional, collaborative-participatory, relational art programs that engage audiences on many levels.
They are public art meetings that bring people together to relate communally through art. I refer to them as Relational Public Art Meetings, and sometimes as Collaborative-Participatory are events.
With these series, I am on an important journey taking art to new audiences, encouraging participation in art and fostering learning, using art - in my locality and around the world. As I continue to produce these events, I hope I am leading us to reconsider, and perhaps try and revolutionise how we (can) live together, how we communicate, and how we love.
Here, questioning, is a medium for me. It is said that "Questions open the mind; whilst statements keep them closed"
He "who questions much shall learn much and retain much" - Francis Bacon.
On the other hand, this mode of working is also, for me, a curatorial approach that includes not only a window for appreciating how a project takes form but also how aesthetics can be combined with the aim of providing information and learning. I take into account and integrate local and popular culture as key factors. My focus is always, first, on helping my audience to understand art in general; to understand the art in the given context whilst we actively figure out how the 'art and exhibition-in-process' can be used as platforms for immediate expression, serving the artist and the audiences.
