Careful Corrosion gives the impression of having once been whole, and demonstrates the result of a delicate corrosion that has either left behind or been corroded by, a fibrous, textile interior. The title implies that the eating away of the metal was intentional, and done with care, thought, and purpose. The knitted fiber is of uncertain origin -- is the knitting the cause of the corrosion? Is it what is revealed within the piece after the corrosion took away the steel? Is it some other effect of the process? It also asks the viewer to interpret what it means for a thing to be made of more than one thing, for two materials to exist in this metaphorical hybrid state, and how it affects the perception of each.
