The female of a Red-Winged Black Bird, I wanted to salute her in her natural muted colors. The beauty of the male is great, but she was the one brave enough to come up close and pose for me to stop me and my kayak from getting any closer to her nest. I stopped, studied her, took some photos, and then backed away. Greatness in the ordinary everyday female. This painting is painted and framed out of recycled building supplies. I call this process paint weaving I mix paint and drywall mud together and layer it on top and next to each other then sand it down to reveal the image. It is then top-coated with a Flat Polly for protection.
