This is my imagination of what Kokanee Salmon looks like in a spawning migration. This is the first of what I call paint weaving art that I have made since becoming a caretaker for my father with dementia. I went to pastel for therapeutic and speed reasons, as I lacked time to devote to art. My father has been moved to assisted living close by and is now giving some time back to me. I am thrilled to be working in this process again of recycled building material- paints and plasters. I call this process paint weaving because I lay down thick layers of paint and plaster over and aside each other. I then sand down the layers to reveal a planned image with multiple clear coats to hold it all together. The edges of the wood panel are metal-leafed silver to represent the silver of the kokanee salmon.
