When I'm fatigued or distracted, this art form helps me find calm. Drawing from my experience as a faux painter, I enjoy the simple brush movements that relax me. The colors and their flow inspire me and provide a soothing pick-me-up before bedtime. My patterns are influenced by Montana's River Rock, shaped by ocean sediment layers revealed by the lifting of the Rocky Mountains and polished by rivers that flow from them.
The piece is painted on deckled-edge watercolor paper mounted on cream archival paper and framed behind glass in a simple frame painted Gold with an antiquing glaze. I enjoy framing my pieces and sometimes painting the frames and mats to complement the works as I see them. I find myself in love with the artform of framing as much as creating the art itself.
