Amalia Fisch
Spokane, WA
I am an artist living in Eastern Washington, creating works both inside and outside and working primarily in watercolors and oils.
MessageI was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina a few decades back. My love for art began at the age of 5, when I stumbled upon my grandparents’ collection of postcards from their trips to Europe. I distinctly remember holding the card of Michaelangelo’s Pieta in my small hand and being in disbelief that what I was looking at was made of marble. It was then that I wanted to be an artist.
After graduating high school in San Diego, CA, I traveled back to Buenos Aires where I studied drawing and painting with Clelia Speroni, a renowned teacher and artist. I spent 3 years under her tutelage, then traveled to Seattle, WA, where I attended Cornish College of the Arts and the University of Washington, graduating Magna Cum Laude with a B.F.A. in Printmaking.
Throughout my thirties I taught printmaking and continued painting in my studio. I am now a full time artist, working primarily in watercolor and oils.
Statement
Currently my work is focused on landscapes of my environment. In my Plein Air work, this is evident of documenting what I see at the moment with my paintings. In my studio work, my focus is documenting what I own and live with daily. This work is in process.
