Between Shadow and Substance
Uncertain Knowing
Layers of translucent steel cloth are suspended and perforated, forming a shifting field of visibility and concealment. Directed light casts shadows that extend the work beyond its physical structure.
Viewers are invited to gently tug the cords, setting the elements into motion. As the forms move, shadows destabilise and reconfigure, emphasising perception as fluid, contingent, and continuously forming. Perforations within the material operate simultaneously as absence and portal — interrupting vision while offering glimpses through layered space.
Light translates substance into shadow, object into echo. The swaying structures suggest networks both organic and cognitive: cellular formations, neural pathways, drifting systems in flux. What appears stable becomes unsettled; what seems visible becomes uncertain.
The work inhabits the space between shadow and substance — where perception flickers, and meaning remains in motion.
