Color is light reflected off surfaces, filtered through clouds and atmosphere. Working with wood, saturated acrylic colors and masking tape, I break apart the observed world and reassemble it. The woodgrain patterns evoke watery depths and the constant state of change, both around and inside us. Metallic pigments catch the light as viewers move. Like the remnants of sunset on a lake, the shimmers glint in silvery, gold and bronze. I recreate in my painted language the calm and gratitude I feel when getting lost in the ephemeral beauty of day shifting to night.
