I created this painting during the hottest part of summer 2020; working in my back yard shed because of the lockdown. Seeking some refuge from the uncertainty, fear and heat, I dove into photos of family camping trips from previous summers. I placed myself back into the serenity of golden morning sunlight filtering through towering trees. The simple pleasures of hiking a mountain trail alongside my daughters. I could almost feel the cooling stream rushing over my feet as we rested in the shade.
