Since taking the necessary leap from a community nursing practice to a multidisciplinary art practice in 2021, Alicia has been re-rooting and remembering ancestral ways of moving and sensing in today’s fast-paced society. For her, life and work are about the numinous ways we relate to and impact each other. She brings her healing science background into her current work to mend our connection to the Land, and ultimately, the connection to our wildest, most natural selves. She lives in Fargo with her husband and three sons, she affectionately refers to as the Hauff fraternity.
Statement
I invite you to take a walk with me to meet some of our more-than-human neighbors with whom we share the prairie. They are ready to share their languages, wisdom, and hopes for reconnecting with us. I visually share their stories with washes of fluid acrylic color painted in flowing shapes and realistic graphite portraits on canvas, and organic elements on paper made directly with the landscape with whom I commune. When we re-animate our worldview and the diverse ways we relate, we remember our true natures and place.
