Alice Eckles explores life in fresh soulful color using different styles mediums. She made Vermont her home after studying art at Bennington College.
MessageAlice Eckles’s colors explore new frontiers of feeling and knowing from the breadth of nature and the depths of soul. Whether she is painting landscape, or abstract her process is direct and poetic seeking to make visible the treasured visions from her daily life. Having taught art for many years she is well versed in many mediums and art processes. Her art is joyful, inventive, sophisticated, honest, sincere, accessible, unique, and authentic. She doesn't seek to impress, but rather to give connection to the unseen through her visible expressions in painting.
Eckles spent her early years in New Orleans and then Kansas. She earned her BA at Bennington College, Vermont, where she studied print making, sculpture, and creative writing, while also caring for her two young children. She went on to earn a Master’s of Education with Waldorf Certification at Antioch University. Eckles has published two books, A Phrase Book for Spiritual Emergencies: Essays and The Literature Preferred by Wild Boar, a novel, as well as a fifty copies of her handmade poetry book. Her chapbook All the Greif was published by Zig Zag Lit Mag September 9, 22, 2024
Eckles art is exhibited in juried, invitational, group and solo exhibitions mostly in Vermont, though her work is collected nationally and internationally.
