Alex Di Silvestro
Contemporary visual artist merging art and design through a distilled, bold minimalism.
MessageONLINE FOLIO BIO (ARTWORK ARCHIVE / PRIVATE FOLIO)
Alex Di Silvestro is an Italian-born international contemporary visual artist whose work explores portraiture and symbolic subjects through a bold, minimalist visual language.
His professional background began in early-2000s London, working across fashion illustration, visual design and visual arts, alongside the co-direction of a luxury fashion brand with his wife, British couturier Candy Anthony.
Working intuitively rather than academically, Di Silvestro developed a contemporary minimalist style characterised by clean lines, flat colour blocks, strong chromatic contrast, and the frequent absence of visible brushstrokes. Human, animal and abstract subjects are reduced to their essential forms, resulting in iconic, timeless interpretations that balance graphic impact with emotional presence.
Rooted in Italian and British visual culture and craftsmanship, each artwork is individually conceived and produced by the artist, with close attention to detail, material quality and finish. His work reflects a dialogue between art and design, where visual clarity and conceptual restraint play a central role.
Di Silvestro’s portraits function as visual signatures, designed to resonate beyond representation and to integrate naturally within contemporary architectural and interior contexts. His work is collected internationally and has been featured on UK Channel4 television, as well as exhibited in curated and institutional settings.
Alex Di Silvestro’s ICONIC ART is available as:
- Original acrylic and mixed-media artworks
- Limited editions, individually signed and hand-finished
- Private and corporate commissions, including partnerships
- Large-scale indoor and outdoor mural projects
Statement
I’m a self-taught visual & portrait artist - entrepreneur, creating original works rooted in pure inspiration from my own individual intuition, free from academic rules or standards.
In an era often dominated by noise, collective repetition and darkness, I remain committed to my path of clarity, harmony and positive resonance. My works are minimalist, pop, unseen interpretations of human and animal figures, distilled into emotionally deep icons where art meets design.
Faces have fascinated me since early childhood, alongside a lifelong interest in graphic language, pop and street art. My visual vocabulary draws from design, fashion, music and contemporary culture.
Salvador Dali' has been a profound personal and conceptual influence. His eclectic personal branding and multidimensional creative genius, reignited my artistic direction and continue to inspire me daily. Drawing his face was for me an initial experiment, which became an obsession and finally an art collectible.
I work across acrylic, mixed media, paper collage, screen printing and 3D installations. My process is minimalist yet meticulous. I layer flat blocks of very specific colour hues with invisible brushstrokes, often enhanced with spray paint. Bold colour combinations, geometric asymmetry, sharp contrasts & emotional depths define my unique visual language. Less is more. The detail sits in the viewer’s own imagination and eye. An icon is a timeless, reduced image containing an entire story in a single frame.
My artistic approach operates at the intersection of art and design. Drawing on my background in visual design and fashion illustration, I develop minimalist, iconic works that function not only as artworks, but as bold visual signatures integrated within designed interiors and professional environments.
Rather than pursuing awards and prizes, my practice has been shaped through continuous studio work and direct engagement with collectors & partners where repeat acquisitions and client trust are serving as my primary measure of success.
