Alan Lankin has exhibited his paintings and works on paper at the State Museum of Pennsylvania, the Woodmere Museum and the Pennsylvania Academey of Fine Arts and galleries in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Arizona. He studied art at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and the University of Pennsylvania. He lives and works in the Philadelphia area.
Statement
My artistic process is based on improvisation, in being in the moment and letting the current state of a work guide me to my next action. My artworks are abstract explorations of color and shape, line and mass, movement and balance, combined with my memories of the natural and man-made world.
My love of color and movement, music and dance are reflected in the work’s shapes and lines. My paintings embrace ambiguity and are imbued with multiple meanings.
