Jessica Sabogal’s paintings feature mothers and their children. Each painting depicts a natural element in the background, selected by the family, related to the family’s cultural background. Sabogal was inspired to create this series of work because she believes that “being a mother can be one of the most challenging jobs on earth, and I want the women who enter the hospital to see my artwork and to feel at home. I want them to feel uplifted and unafraid, united and understood.”
