Artist Statement: I’m not sure what the significance of this title is, but the words just came to me as I was cutting and pinning the cloth to make the quilt. It has two parts to it, the “floating world” on the top, and the streams of banners beneath them. I like the way the people are placed on the light blue clouds, because you could imagine them to be floating in the sky, or sitting by waterfalls, or sitting by mountains of snow. The banners are made from layering strips and shreds of cloth. They can be thought of as prayer cloths, each piece of cloth embodying as prayer. They also remind me of the way a wall looks after layers of posters have been stapled on top of each other and then torn down.
