Artist's Statement: "This painting is from a series that provides an intimate glimpse of everyday people doing ordinary things. My goal is to engage the viewer with familiar imagery that upon further scrutiny, creates awareness and a greater appreciation of the nuances of color, lighting, shapes, brushwork, and other techniques I use to express the subject matter. 'The Library' portrays a scene from the old Castro Valley Library."
