Artist’s Statement: My process is multi-layered. I start by collaging a background using found papers such as old maps and pages from discarded books. Next I sketch the bears, then transfer the drawing onto the collage background as a monoprint. In the last step, I add the snowflake stamps that were hand-carved and the collage hats and scarves.
I hope viewers will smile at my lovely bears and then reflect on ways we can help this species survive global warming and survive at the top of our globe.
