Artist Statement: As I created the piece titled “One Thing Leads to Another,” I was remembering a story about a woman who said, “Living your life is like making a quilt. You’re given bits and pieces of fabric but it is how you put them together that creates the final pattern.”
The symbol of the house can be interpreted on many levels, from the personal to the familial. The spiral, a natural pattern found in such things as seashells, air currents and the double helix of DNA, also has psychological connotations of growth and progression. These two symbols appear in many of my quilts.
