Artist's Statement: The Mikasuki Woman nourished and nurtured her embattled Seminole nation by pounding corn for their sustenance and doctoring the wounds of injured warriors. The mediums used in this work, batik, paper, fabric, and waterproof ink on Japanese paper, reflect the confluence of many people that formed the Seminole Indian nation.
