Artist’s Statement: A background of lively painted blues began this piece. I had no composition or objects in mind. Then I began layering on papers of various colors and textures, following with more painted shapes. When a floral image emerged, I continued to develop it, finally adding the white handmade-paper “blossoms” at the top. In the end, I thought it resembled a flamboyant chorus line of high-kicking dancers.
