Artist Statement: “Black Code” deals with the endangered status of men of color in the Americas. Among the images shown are a portion of a slave ship in the background with the superimposed images of a colonial house hanging from handcuffs over a Chippendale table perched on the spiral of life. The smaller floating images were inspired by historical photographs of captured men of color through-out history.
