Artist Statement: The purchased artwork by Tomyé “Being A Messenger” offers various levels of communication. The most prominent message is reflected in the gouache painting of a striking face in left profile. The eye, directed at viewers as well as the hand, suggests a contemplative manner. The surrounding photographs taken over many years, add more subjects to the dialogue. These other images or “intonations” upon examination, connect all the elements making a colorful story. Now ask yourself the question, what do I project? What will comprise my legacy.
