Artist Jane Norling created a series of oil paintings featuring an imaginary landscape reminiscent of Alameda County. Norling’s paintings were photographed and printed on glass panels using a special permanent digital printing process called ceramic frit printing.
Artist’s Statement: Alameda County is a geographically diverse area shaped by water in beautiful variation. I love the places where water and land meet – the wetland estuary bordering San Francisco Bay, lake edges, creek banks, and in the drifting fog nourishing redwoods and pines on the East Bay Hills. Walking up the hills to look out over the landscape of the Bay is the inspiration for this artwork. I hope to bring indoors the sense of expansiveness found in the natural world, along with a feeling of peace using water’s familiar blues and greens.
