Artist’s Statement: My work draws upon stories told through geography, the built environment, and the kinds of societal dynamics these spaces shape and reveal. In my practice, I often focus on elements that typically define spaces of privilege by creating sites of control, including components such as barriers and fences.
I take these images and objects and restructure their relationships through my drawings. While these speculative pieces are built from objects drawn from real sites and carry with them the traces of their original social purpose, their new configurations allow for the hope of other possibilities.
