AIDA GARRITY - BIO
Aida Garrity lives in Ohio and was educated in Manchester and London, UK and lived most of her life in England, Canada and the USA. Aida received her Masters in Fine Arts from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco.
Inspired by life and beauty, Aida reflects her passion and interest in painting people by capturing and exploring their individual personalities, moods and emotions. And upon visiting the Norman Rockwell museum in Massachusetts, Aida was struck by Rockwell's skill in rendering a dramatic story using everyday scenes, and thus, she strives to capture the same kind of rich narrative in her scenes from everyday life.
Her work was selected by the jurors to be part of several national art competitions. Just recently (2018) her work was accepted to be shown at the Haggin Museum show sponsored by the American Women Artist AWA, included since 2014 till present in several shows sponsored by the "The Salmagundi Club" in New York City, National Art Museum of Sport 2nd Annual International (NAMOS) "Commitment to Excellence in Art and Sport: A Fine Art Competition", in the 2011 National Oil and Acrylic Painters of America "Best of America" Exhibit, 2017 1st Small Paintings National Oil and Acrylic Painters of America "Best of America", 2017 Ohio Plein Air Society show that took place at the Columbus Museum of Arts, and several other national competitions.
Her work has also reached the international audience by being juried in the PNC Arts Alive Worthington-Samaya (Japan) Arts Exchange Exhibit which is taking place in Samaya (Japan) till January 8th 2013.
She was also selected in 2012 to be part of the prestigious Portrait Society of America mentoring program under the Cecilia Beaux Forum. She was honored to be mentored by the famous Master Artist Judith Carducci.
She is a member of the prestigious Salmagundi Art Club, the Portrait Society of America, Associate member of the Oil Painters of America and the Cecilia Beaux Forum, Associate with Distinction of the American Women Artists (AWA), National Oil and Acrylic Painters of America (NOAPS).
After living in Canada for more than nine years, Aida Garrity relocated her studio to Ohio where she resides with her four children and her husband Kevin.
