Statement

​My recent works concentrate on the limitless variations of simple visual elements and how they create a dialogue when placed side by side. The works explore both an impulsive and repetitive way of mark-making that is both gestural and meditative.

When painting, I try to balance action and inaction. The intentional doing, the element of chance, and the exchange of the layers of paint on a surface are in constant interaction and fundamental to my process.

One of the most exciting things to do as an artist is to start a new piece of work. As soon as a single mark is put on this clean white expansive space it becomes something else. The steps that follow are an organic response to what is already there.

Lately, I have been fascinated by the juxtaposition of geometric and chaotic forms. It seems to me that it perfectly symbolizes both an urban environment and life in its essence.
