I was born in Boston and grew up in Dorchester, MA. For all my life I’ve lived in the same street, and stayed as close as I can to the same as I could to the same few people who have remained constant in my life. This community I’ve built not only shaped my identity, but it also shaped my interests in art, and helped build a passion and a hobby for myself— one that is promising and allows me to express myself.. one that can promise me a job and something to confide in. Ever since I was young I’ve worked with traditional art. Sketched when I was bored in class or painted when the classes were offered to me. I’ve even made pottery and written poems, and created arts of all sorts. That’s how I got introduced to AFH; my growing interest in creative self expression and craft was never something I grew out of— never just a phase.
Whenever I craft a new piece, I continue to only grow more inspired by the world around me. Though I haven’t experienced lots of lived experience, as I’m only a teen with several more years to go, the world around me has a lot to offer, and that’s why I am able to make a blank sheet into something that expresses, something that causes you to feel— something beautiful and beyond simplicity. I make a lot of choices to create something with intention— each stroke turns intoning new, even if it isn’t exactly harmonious. The brush is guided by intention— always.
