Soap dish, 5.125 x 5.125 x 4 inches. Red transfer with polychrome clobbering. Impressed maker's mark for Powell & Bishop. Red printed painted number "6999." This pattern features a wreath of flowers and leaves on the lid, which has a painted handle in the form of a fruit. The body sports a wide tan band paired with thin red bands. The drainer also sports two thin red lines around the rim.
Founded in 1851 as Livesley, Powell & Co. In 1860 Mr. Livesley left the business, which was renamed Powell & Bishop in 1867. Mr. Frederic Bishop and Mr. James Watson Bishop were the partners.
