Tureen, 8 x 5 inches. Brown transfer. Maker is unknown. The impressed registration mark dates this shape to 1885. The body of the tureen features oak branches with acorns on one side and a partial circular cartouche in-filled with flowers superimposed over additional flowers on the other side. It has gilding along the top edge and on the handles. The lid features more oak branches with acorns on one side and ivy vines underneath two partial square and rectangular cartouches on the other side. The square cartouche is filled with stylized flowers and leaves and a triangular border. The rectangular cartouche depicts an abbey near the water with a sailboat and mountains and trees in the background. The lid handle has gilding similar to the body handles.
